When machining indexable turning tools in small batches on a common milling machine, it is best to use universal pliers as a fixture. The more rotating shafts a universal pliers have, the more convenient the processing, but the rigidity of the flat pliers is relatively poor. When clamping an indexable turning tool with a universal flat pliers with four rotating shafts (see Fig. 2), first clamp the turning tool, rotate the shaft 1 to form the leading angle of the turning tool; then rotate the shaft 3 to form a car. The edge of the knife is tilted; then the shaft 2 is rotated to form the forward angle of the turning tool. At this time, the bottom surface of the insert groove is parallel to the plane of the table. According to the selected blade, the shaft 4 is rotated so that one side of the blade groove is parallel to the horizontal axis of the table, and the turning tool can be milled at this time. After machining a rear wall, rotate the shaft 4 and machine the other blade slot back wall.

If a universal flat pliers with three rotating shafts (see Figure 3) is used to clamp the indexable turning tool, the rotation sequence is different from that of the four-axis flat-end pliers. The shaft 1 should be rotated first, and the angle of rotation is as shown in (2). Calculate; then rotate the shaft 2, the angle of rotation is calculated according to the formula (3); at this time, the bottom surface of the sipe is parallel to the horizontal plane of the machine tool, and the shaft 3 can be rotated and the milling process can be started as described above.

When processing the indexable turning tool in large quantities on a common milling machine, the horns placed on the two sides and the bottom surface of the turning tool can be used to adjust the angle, and the horn can be fixed on the flat tongs (only one rotating shaft is used at this time) The pliers hold the workpiece.)
