Indalex's Third Quarter Shipment Increase Predicts Slowing Demand for Alcoa's Extrusion Market

NEW YORK, November 20: Indalex, the second largest aluminum extrusion producer in the United States, announced that its third-quarter shipments rose 3.2% from the same period last year. This fell sharply with the 16.2% increase announced in the second quarter and the 11.9% increase in the first quarter. The company had a strong demand for its core construction and transportation market, but both industries are in a downward trend. Timothy RJ Stubbs, president and chief executive officer, commented on the performance of the third quarter this year. "In the market situation where demand is slowing, this quarter's performance is still OK." He also said that he did not hold too much for immediate improvement of performance. Hopefully, it means that the company must first consider the issue of productivity and profit under the current weak market outlook.
