The future of China's micro-motor industry

From 1995 to 2000, China’s exports of micro-electric motors increased by 18.6% annually, and in 2001, they decreased by 6.02% compared with 2000. Affected by the US "9.11" incident, the US and Japan's economy suffered severe setbacks and the global economic downturn was the main factor in the decline in exports in 2001. Table 3 lists the export statistics of micro-motors from 1995 to 2001 in customs statistics. In 2000, the world's micro-motor market was about 6.5 billion units, and China's exports reached 2.726 billion units, accounting for about 42% of the international market, including 321.151 million sets of toy motors, 238,396,000 sets of micro-motors of <37.5W, and >37.5W. There are 19.706 million sets of dual-purpose motors, and 2.377 million sets of DC motors and generators of <750W. According to statistics, 80% of the micro-motors produced by investment companies in Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan are produced.

In 2001, there were 6 enterprises with foreign exchange earning US$50 million: Qingdao Sanmei Motor Co., Ltd., US$14.34 million, Tianjin Sanmei Motor Co., Ltd., US$124.5 million, Zhuhai Sanmei Motor Co., Ltd., US$10.83 million, Toshiba Huaqiang Sanyo Motor Co., Ltd. 99.95 million US dollars, Marlboro to Motor Dalian Co., Ltd. 96.9 million US dollars, Zhuhai Matsushita Motor Co., Ltd. 80.82 million US dollars, Sanxie Precision Machinery (Fujian) Co., Ltd. 72.71 million US dollars.

After joining the WTO, China's micro-motor industry has entered the global economic environment where opportunities and challenges coexist. Only by fully fighting and fierce competition can we gain a larger share of the international market.
