Introduction to the car forming surface (Figure)

These parts whose surface axial profile exhibits a curved feature are called forming faces. The following describes three methods of processing the forming surface.

(1) Modeling surface of the model cutter Figure 1 is a model knife for the arc of the vehicle. The forming surface of the model cutter is used to ensure the machining accuracy. However, it should be noted that due to the large contact surface during cutting, the cutting resistance is also large, and vibration and workpiece displacement are prone to occur. For this reason, the cutting force is smaller and the workpiece must be clamped.

This method has high production efficiency, but the tool sharpening is difficult and it is easy to vibrate when turning. Therefore, it is only used in large batch production, with good turning rigidity, short length and simple forming surface.

(2) Forming surface of the brake car Fig. 2 shows the forming surface 2 of the handle by the master. At this time, the lateral slide of the tool holder has been disengaged from the lead screw, and the roller rod 3 is mounted on the pull rod 3 at the front end. When the large carriage moves longitudinally, the roller 5 moves in the curved groove of the master 4, so that the cutter tip also moves along the curve, and the cutter depth is controlled by the small knife holder, so that the handle can be driven out. Forming surface. This method of processing the forming surface is simple in operation and high in productivity, so it is mostly used for batch production. When the groove of the master 4 is a straight groove, the mold 4 can be used for the turning taper by turning the mold 4 by a certain angle.

This method is simple in operation and high in productivity, but it is necessary to manufacture a special master, so it is only used for forming surfaces with large turning length and simple shape in mass production.

(3) When hand-controlling the forming surface of the car, the forming surface is usually processed by one-hand control method, that is, the two-handed control method is used to turn the forming surface, that is, both hands shake the small slide handle and the middle slide handle, and the handle is passed by the coordinated action of both hands. The trajectory is similar to the required forming surface curve, as shown in Figure 3.

This operation technology is flexible and convenient. No other auxiliary tools are needed, but a high level of skill is required. Mostly used for single piece, small batch production.
