Working principle: 1. A drive system uses the energy of the heel falling to drive the magnetic rotor to rotate; 2. The rotor rotates to make the coil produce current; 3. The current flows along the wire and enters the lithium polymer battery on the shoe upper.
Every time a hiker hits the ground, it releases energy sufficient to light the light bulb. In order not to waste this energy, an engineer and enthusiastic backpacker Matt Stanto invented an insole that can convert this energy into electrical energy. This device is more innovative than traditional, bulky, slow-charged chargers (such as various solar chargers) and does not depend on the weather at all.
Stanton worked closely with Hahna Alexander, an engineering student at Carnegie Mellon University, and spent more than three years developing the Sole Power system. This system does not use piezoelectric or other inefficient, bulky methods to generate electricity. Instead, it uses the same principle as hand cranked flashlights to reduce the size of components. The product appears to be a standard size removable insole, containing no more than 140 grams of battery weight. It is charged via the USB interface.
This insole will be released later this year. The current sample needs to be dressed 24 kilometers to fill a smartphone. However, Stanton said that the company will work towards the goal of walking an 8km full iPhone with a lifespan of 1 million steps.
