Process engineering coal cryogenic pyrolysis dust separation technology has been advanced

On March 29, the Energy Conversion Research Group of the Institute of Process Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences successfully implemented a pyrolysis gas dust separation using a new pyrolysis gas dust removal technology on a 3000 tonne/year solid thermal carrier coal pyrolysis pilot test platform in Langfang. The stable operation, and obtained the ideal pilot test results. The test results showed that the dust content in tar was reduced from 12% to 1.14%, far below the 5% technical indicator.

The low-temperature pyrolysis of coal to extract high-value-added pyrolysis oils and gas with high calorific value is the core technology supporting the grading transformation and high-value utilization of coal. Existing domestic and international coal fluidized bed pyrolysis technologies have the problems of poor oil quality and high dust content in oil, which have become one of the bottlenecks in the industrial application of coal pyrolysis technology. In response to the key technical problems of pyrolysis gas dust removal, the Energy Conversion Research Group cooperated with gas-solid separation experts of the University of Petroleum under the support of the Laboratory Open Fund, and innovatively developed medium-temperature pyrolysis gas two-stage dust separation technology. Through primary cyclone separation and secondary low resistance particle bed filtration technology, the dust content in tar is significantly reduced, and the pyrolysis tar quality is improved. The cyclone-particle bed filtration combined with pyrolysis gas dust removal technology has obvious innovation and technical advantages, and it is hopeful to thoroughly solve the technical problems of oil dust separation faced by the industrial application of coal pyrolysis.

The 3,000-ton/year solid thermal carrier coal pyrolysis pilot test platform was established in the Langfang Park of the Institute of Process Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The project is supported by the "China Coal Mine Cleaner and Efficient Cascade Utilization Key Technologies and Demonstration". At present, the newly developed key equipment such as ash separators, high-temperature spirals, and high-temperature solid material level meters have been validated and successfully used in this pilot test platform.
