The advantage of this type of sensor is that you can use very long cables (up to 500 m) without the sensitivity of the sensor being affected. Even if the change in wire resistance caused by temperature changes does not affect the measurement results.

The four-wire sensor cable cannot be changed. If the cable length must be changed, a six-wire sensor must be used.

With the HBM force sensor, the cable shield is always attached to the housing. The resulting Faraday cage blocks the electromagnetic field so that interference can be avoided. If the sensor cable needs to be extended, the shield of the cable must be connected to the shield of the extension and the shield must be in contact with the sensor plug.
If the sensor and amplifier have different potential differences, the compensation current will cause significant interference through the cable shield. Ideally, a low-resistance connection (potential equalization line) should be made. We recommend using a cable with a cross-section of 16 mm2. If this is not possible, the shield of the plug must be removed. In any case, this is a 'secondary' solution.
