German scientists successfully developed super fiber

An international research team at Bayreuth University in Germany has developed a super fiber. This man-made fiber has the characteristics of spider silk. It is not only super light (a kilometer-long fiber weighs only 0.4 grams), but also has a high tensile strength. Withstand 150,000 times its own weight. If it is woven into a rope with a cross-sectional diameter of one cent centimeter (about 16mm), it can withstand a weight of 2 to 3 tons. None of the current man-made fibers possess these characteristics.

This "Bayreuth Super Fiber" manufacturing process is also relatively simple. The basic material is an everyday plastic, and the technical know-how is an auxiliary material called polyacrylnitril. The function of the auxiliary material is to bond the substrate longitudinally into fibers. Researchers are very optimistic about the use of this new material.
