Gear Strengthening: Strength (2)

These parameters will affect the final enhancement:

- The diameter of the head determines the speed at which the media pellets are thrown tangentially. A 17.5" diameter throwing head produces a greater tangential firing rate than a 14" diameter throwing head at the same heading speed, thus achieving a higher strength of reinforcement.

- Throwing horsepower determines the amount of media that is ejected

- The head size and head speed determine the achievable medium firing rate and the resulting strength. Wheelabrator (Group)'s shot peening equipment is equipped with a frequency converter that controls and changes the throwing speed and medium firing rate.

- The throwing head is usually permanently and securely fixed in a specific position within the blast chamber. If you need to change the ejection mode, you can adjust the setting of the directional sleeve. The position of the directional sleeve determines the direction and angle of the medium when it is ejected.

Pressure nozzle type shot peening:

- Nozzle

- Nozzle size

- Injection pressure

- Nozzle angle

- Nozzle movement

- Multiple nozzles

These parameters will affect the final enhancement:

- In a more complex and rigorous gear-enhanced shot peening system, the nozzle pressure is controlled by a closed-loop feedback regulator. When any deviation from the preset pressure occurs, the system triggers an alarm and automatically shuts down the machine.

- The size of the nozzle determines the amount of pellets that are sprayed onto the surface of the part. The energy generated after the medium is ejected is used directly to achieve the desired strength.

- Place the nozzle on a multi-axis robot to control and oscillate and rotate the nozzle to meet the spray requirements of any shape and part of the part. According to the contour of the gear to be reinforced, the moving trace and distance of the nozzle are preset to achieve a highly accurate and highly repeatable process requirement.

note:

If a set of planetary gears and ring gears are to be shot peened at the same time, it must be noted that the root angles of the two gears are different. Therefore, it is necessary to rely on different, independent nozzle settings to achieve the desired reinforcement effect for each of the two gears. Wheelabrator (Group)'s intensive equipment provides a specific nozzle base for both gears. Other process parameters such as

- Pill flow rate

- Media particle size

- Is the particle size uniform and consistent?

- The flow control valve (magnetic valve) controls the flow rate of the medium pellet. In the shot peening equipment, the magnetic valve is mounted on the feed side of the throwing head; in the shot peening apparatus, the magnetic valve is installed at the outlet of the pressure tank.

- Vibrating screens separate large, suitable or undersized pellets. The use of two vibrating screens ensures a constant, uniform size of media during each strengthening process.

- The size of the steel shot (or shred) is a key factor in determining the coverage and production cycle time. Smaller pellets can create higher stresses on the surface of the part; larger pellets can affect deeper areas of the workpiece where the desired stress level is reached and the diameter of the steel shot must be less than the diameter of the smallest transition zone of the gear. half

to sum up:

In the past few years, gear-strengthening technology and equipment have developed rapidly, and the most complex and sophisticated reinforcement processes originally used for aircraft landing gear reinforcement have been replicated for the intensive machining of gears. What they have in common is that they have more and more stringent requirements for the consistency of the intensified results, the high controllability of the process and the high repeatability.

The combination of mechanical processes and sophisticated process monitoring provides maximum flexibility and flexibility for enhanced production to achieve satisfactory part reinforcement.

Today's automotive engineers are increasingly using blasting-shot peening systems to meet both process and production needs.
