The report said that despite the difficulties faced by the European plastics manufacturers, operating income for the entire year of 2010 still rose by 17%. The strong growth of the plastics recycling industry is injecting more vitality into the plastics industry.

In 2010, the average amount of plastics recycled and recycled in 27 EU countries plus Norway and Switzerland climbed 9.3% compared to 2009. This figure accounts for 58% of all waste plastics.
